I know some of you that read my blog follows " An older Texan Remembers" blog. I just received a phone call that Ole Ben is in pretty bad shape in the hospital. I'm praying for Ole Ben and hoping everyone else will.
When I find out more I will post it here.
Just got off the phone with the hospital. It does not sound good. He is in very critical condition, the nurse would only tell me that. He is unconscious in ICU.
Just talked with Ben's brother, he is on the way to the hospital and will call me when he finds out more. He does know its his heart, it does not look good & that the doctors are working on him.
6:14 P.M. Just got off the phone with Ben's Brother, He said that the only response from Ben is when his brothers are talking to him. He opens his eyes but that's it. He also told me that Ben's system is shutting down and he's afraid the next call I receive from him won't be a good one. It sounds really bad.
9:40 P.M. No news is good news. I doubt I will hear anything more till tomorrow. I have a flight in the morning so it will be around 11: A.M. before I can post anything more about Ben.
I've been thinking about ole Ben all night, I met Ben & Ann his wife back in the early 80's when I moved out to Alpine TX., my brother lived in Alpine and him an Ben were best buddy"s. We have stayed in touch since then.
I was thinking about all his friends he had made on his blog. It's amazing that one person can write something everyday and have people comment on his writings and over the course of a couple of months you know that person and consider him a friend and he considers you his friend, you feel like you've known him for ever.
If you had told me 20 years ago that in the future you would be able to sit down and type something every day about your life and people could instantly see it and comment back to you about it and that you could become something like a best friend to that person without ever seeing their face or hearing their voice I would had thought you were crazy. I have sat and read Ben's blog and the comments people have left and have seen that happen. I know he is blessed to have you people, that read his blog as his best buddys.
Good night, God Bless, and I will post something as soon as I can tomorrow.
Just read your comment in his blog. I pray that he gets well soon.

ReplyDeleteTo all of Ben's blog family, Ben passed away this morning around 1:30AM. I know he would want everyone to know that he is taking his final trip and that he is with his wife, Ann again after many years of separation. His daughter is on the way to make arrangements. I'll check back in and give you updates once I know them. Ben's brother, Woody...
ReplyDeleteMy sincerest condolences, Woody.
ReplyDeleteJim thanks for being his friend...he had said in the last several days that he wanted to visit Dizzy Dick and then you and maybe swing by your Terlingua place. Reminds me of that old saying if you ever want to give the good Lord a laugh...just tell Him your plans.
